At Magic City Slingers meetings, we honestly don’t have time to get into parenting issues. We are a very on-topic group: we talk about babywearing and we help people do it … and that keeps us very busy! We do have some opportunities to get to know one another outside of monthly educational meetings, though, like our hikes and picnics, and I’ve learned that we have diverse group when it comes to parenting styles.
We have members who practice attachment parenting and members who don’t. We have members who embrace natural parenting and members who don’t. We have members who don’t own a stroller and members who own several and like them all. And we have a great time together.
It will be a great day when the rest of the world is as cool as Magic City Slingers. :) Check out our member Kim Hildenbrand’s recent article in Lipstick magazine about her journey into motherhood as Mommy Weirdest.

I love it!!! That is one of the finest stories I have read in a while. I hated those stares and weird looks but love having Morgan right next to me so I can see her exploring the world around her right in front of my own eyes. I was also excited to see it was Alabama since more often than not people are inquiring about my slings and asking where I got them or we didn’t have those in our day, it would have been much easier. Only one negative comment to date and my little pumpkin almost 6 months old. We breastfeed and love it too. GO “WEIRDO” MOMS!! YOU ROCK!
