The bedsheet post gets a lot of traffic. The technique (tying a slipknot in a shawl-size piece of fabric to make an adjustable sling) works with just as well … shoot, maybe even better … with pretty shawls too. Check out this mom’s video demonstrating the slipknot technique with a beautiful (and very affordable) Indonesian selendang.
Note that she folds the selendang in half the long skinny way, resulting in a nice pouch-style seat for the baby. My favorite way to do this is actually to start with it folded in half just like she does, then unfold just the part on my shoulder … I just find it easier to adjust the top rail that way, but I do like having the pouch-style seat that results from leaving the rest of it folded.
